Alongside their cohort, residents learn on-site at Two Cities, under the direction of the Pastor of Leadership Development, as they participate in Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary’s CBTE program. At the end of two years, residents will have earned a Master’s in Christian Ministry while also gaining practical hands-on ministry experience that they can carry with them wherever they go next.

Ministry Leads walk alongside residents in their chosen track, developing them as they lead themselves, lead others, lead teams, and lead ministries.

Residents also receive opportunities to grow in leadership as they contribute meaningfully to the ministry and mission of the church.

Residents grow in character as they serve on serving teams, participate in Community Groups, and are paired with lay leaders in the church for one-on-one mentorship. These mentors are people of strong, Christ-shaped character who walk alongside residents as they navigate all things spiritual, personal, and professional.

Wondering if this opportunity is right for you? Don’t just take our word for it! See how two of our residents have been personally and professionally impacted by the residency.

Your degree equips you to minister to others and will help you be prepared for future job opportunities.

To grow in leadership, we believe you need the opportunity to lead, so we want to connect you to a team of seasoned ministry leaders who will guide you as you begin to engage in practical ministy.

How will the residency set me up for success in life and ministry?

Once you complete the residency, you will have 2-years of practical work experience from Two Cities Church, your Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and skills to lead in various environments.

Within the program, we will identify your professional skillset and create a personalized plan to prepare you for the future.

Who is the ideal candidate for the Residency?

The ideal candidate is a follower of Christ who has a calling on their life for full-time vocational ministry.

They are eager to get hands-on experience in ministry, and they desire to grow in their love for God and people by diving into further theological study.

How are residencies funded?

The Residency at Two Cities is fully support raised. Each resident will be responsible for raising their own salaries for the two-year program.

Two Cities has partnered with an incredible organization called Reliant that trains, coaches, and manages everything you need to help you with the support raising process.

With the best tools and resources at your disposal, support raising raising will be an excellent training ground for future opportunities in ministry.

What kind of degree will be offered?

By the time the residency is over, you will have completed a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry from SEBTS.

A cohort, you will work with your peers in completing the program under the Pastor of Leadership and Development, Dr. Stephen Lorance.

Your master’s degree will equip you for ministry and help you stand out as you for future opportunities.

Will housing be provided?

You will be responsible for your own housing, and Two Cities does not cover any moving costs. If, however, you need helping finding a place, we may be able to make some suggestions.

What does the application process look like and when would I begin?

The application process consists of four stages.

  • Connect: By January 20th, complete the interest form and someone from our team will connect with you over an initial phone call.
  • Apply: If the Residency is a good fit for you, then you’ll complete a formal application with Reliant by February 1st.

  • Assess: Those selected to continue the process will undergo a more in-depth professional and personality assessment.
  • Decision: If an offer is made and accepted, you will go through support-raising training  in March/April and enroll in our Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (SEBTS) degree program.
  • Begin: Fall Cohort begins August 1st.
Will I have a job with Two Cities Church once my residency is over?

Not everyone will have a position at Two Cities Church upon completion of their residency. However, we are dedicated to owning the success of each of our residents, and we work to place residents in ministry roles within our network and denominational connections.
